FIBWI PRESENTS BINIAGUAL’S HYSTORY AND WINES
REPORT OF BINIAGUAL ON THE FIBWI TELEVISION CHANNEL
On the 19th of August, reportes from the TV channel FIBWI walked through the streets of Biniagual to find out more about our history and how we elaborate our wines.
The interview began in the Vinoteca, where our sommelier José explained the origins of Biniagual and its more recent history. He told about how the phylloxera killed most of the vineyards at the end of the 19th century and how Biniagual after a long time recoveres its production and tradition.
Matthieu, our oenologist, continued with the interview explaining how they take care of the vineyard to elaborate the different wines: “A good wine is made in the vineyard, not in the cellar. In the cellar we only have the accompany the grapes in the process”. The main objective for the elaboration of Biniagial wines is the quality of the grapes and the health of the vineyard.
Despite the varius weather-related difficulties this year (a late frost, hail and the heat wave) a good harvest is expected. The quantity may have decreased, but not the quality.
The reporte concluded by explaining that Biniagual is in the process of converting to a fully organic production. Also in the future, more endemic grapes will be grown together with Mantonegro. The objetive is to produce wine with Mallorcan grape varieties.
