THE MAGAZINE’S MARCH 2021 ISSUE RECOMMENDS A WINE TOUR IN MALLORCA.
FINCA BINIAGUAL IN THE CURRENT DECANTER MAGAZINE
“My perfect day in Mallorca“ starts with breakfast in Palma‘s Mercat de l’Olivar, followed by a trip to Bodega Biniagual, writes food writer Shawn Hennessey in her piece about wine tourism in Mallorca in the current Decanter issue, dedicated to “Celebrating Spain”.
Bodega Biniagual is “just 40 minutes away in the charming hamlet of the same name, with its 14 houses, chapel and historic winery. The Graf Family bought the 170 ha property in 1968 and began planting grapes, including native Manto Negro and Prensal, in 1998. Although not officially certified, they practise low intervention and control pests by interplanting”. She recommends enjoying a glass of wine in the Vinoteca Biniagual, where you can also buy the estate’s own olive oil and marmalade.
Although this article does not feature tasting notes, the journalist published some tasting notes in her social media account (@sevillatapas)– among them the Finca Biniagual Mantonegro 2018 which she describes as “fresh, lovely, elegant and well balanced”.
The six-page feature in Decanter outlines the possibilities for wine tours in Mallorca, recommending different wineries like Binigrau – in Biniagual’s neighbourhood-, Vinyes Mortitx in the Serra de Tramuntana or 4 Kilos in Felanitx. It also features interesting restaurants like Miceli in Selva, Son Brull in Pollença or Andana and Aromata, the Palma restaurants of Michelin-Star-Chefs Macarena de Castro and Andreu Genestra.
